Abstract: In this talk I will discuss the Hilbert Function of zero-dimensional subschemes of multiprojective spaces.

I'll discuss some simple sounding, but unresolved, problems in this area and also describe some work that has been done on these problems.  I'll show how solutions to some of these problems have applications to some problems in classical algebraic geometry -- particularly the problem of determining the dimensions of the higher secant varieties to Segre embeddings of the product of several projective spaces.

The work discussed will be, in part, work done in the PhD thesis of my student Adam VanTuyl and also work done in collaboration with M.V. Catalisano (Genoa) and A. Gimigliano (Bologna).
