Abstract: Let V be an irreducible finite-dimensional representation of a semisimple Lie group G, g=Lie(g) and U(g) - the universal enveloping algebra. An algebra of invariants Q_V=(U(g) otimes End V)^G is called a  quantum family algebra.
We study the structure of Q_V over the center of U(g),  give a criterion of commutativity. Some related characteristic identities and the examples of family algebras are given.
