Abstract:    The Grassmannian G(k,n) parameterizes k-dimensional subspaces of an n-dimensional linear space. It is a central object in geometry, representation theory and combinatorics. In this talk I will describe a new rule for computing the cohomology of Grassmannians. I will then explain how this rule generalizes to many other settings, including orthogonal and symplectic Grassmannians and flag varieties.
