Course Description for MTH 1010 Mathematics Preliminaries 2
Prerequisites: Placement by freshmen entrance test
or by approval of course coordinator.
Student Population: Students lacking knowledge of
algebra.
Goals: To build a foundation for taking required
math and statistics courses. To build problem-solving
skills and confidence. Focus is on process.
Topics:
- Solving first degree equations
- Graphing lines and curves
- Solving simultaneous equations
- Solving quadratic equations
- Solving rational equations
