Graduate Alumni Conference
The Graduate Alumni Conference was begun in 2005: each year we invite some of our Ph.D. alumni, who have gone on to accomplished careers in academia and industry, to return to participate in the conference. Some give talks on their research, others on their experience getting tenure at an academic institution, still others on the opportunities for PhD mathematicians in industry. In addition, we ask a few of our faculty to give talks about their current research. The event is very popular with our current graduate students, who are interested in mathematical research and the professional opportunities that await them once they finish their degrees. We generally hold the event in the Winter, when graduating seniors are trying to decide on graduate schools; we invite our prospective students to attend to learn how our graduate program has served graduate students in the past, and hopefully convince them to select our program.
