Applied
Linear Statistical Models, by M. Kutner, C. Nachtshein, J. Neter and W. Li 5th Edition, McGraw-Hill/Irwin, c2005. |
The
object of this course is to provide students with a basic understanding of the
linear statistical models and their applications: regression models, factor
analysis and experimental design. Students are to learn about how and when to
apply these statistical methods.
The plan for covered topics is:
1. Simple linear regression (Chapter 1-3);
2. Single factor ANOVA (Chapter 16-18);
3. Matrix approach to linear models (Chapter 5);
4. Multiple regression (Chapter 6,7,9,10);
5. Multifactor ANOVA (Chapter 19-25);
6. Experimental design: block, nested and split designs (Chapter 15,
26-29).
The students will be introduced to the computer package SAS. At the end
of the course, students should be
able to carry out most of the statistical analysis using SAS.
Grading Policy
There will be weekly homeworks. The course grade
is decided accordingly to the culmulative homework
grade at the end of the semester.
