Worksheet Number Eleven
A farm truck loaded with fresh eggs has an accident on its way into Boston. Three people counted the eggs in the truck, before it left the farm. One had a partial egg carton that held 7 eggs. This person kept filling the partial carton and had 3 eggs left over at the end of counting, and forgot how many complete fills he had made. Another had an unbroken egg carton. This person had 4 eggs left over, and had the same memory lapse. The third person had a special, bargain, bakerŐs dozen carton that held 13 eggs when full. This person had 6 eggs left over.
Find possible numbers of eggs in the truck, so you can call the insurance company for a truthful reembursement.
