Corrections for the First Printing of
Partial Differential Equations: Methods and Applications

I have compiled a list of typographical and other errors in my book; the
present list is current as of November 30, 1998. Many of these corrections
were to have been included in the Spring 1996 printing, but Prentice-Hall
not only failed to include them, but even failed to change the printing number
on the copyright page (so you cannot tell whether your copy was printed in 1995 or 1996). However, I have managed to get all corrections in the December 1998 printing,
which will be designated the "2nd printing" on the copyright page. For anyone with
a earlier copy, I am happy to send you a hard copy
of these corrections. All you need to do is send me an e-mail message with
your complete postal address: mcowen@neu.edu.
Alternatively, you can acquire the list electronically.
Electronic Transmission (FTP)
The list of corrections is a TEX file, PDErr_11.98, which is
also available by electronic transmission. I have created three different
formatted versions of this file:
- PDErr_11.98.tex is a text file of the TEX code which then
needs to be typeset in your own TEX application.
- PDErr_11.98.dvi is a device-independent file which will
display the typeset list in your own TEX application.
- PDErr_11.98.ps is a postscript file of the corrections which may be printed directly.
- PDErr_11.98.sea is a self-extracting archive of a postscript file of the corrections which may be printed directly. (For Macintosh users.)
