Textbook:	Principles of Mathematical Analysis, by Walter Rudin, 3rd edition, McGraw-Hill, 1976
Grade:	Based on problem sets, class projects, and a final exam

Course Description

The course will cover the material in Chapters 7-10 from Rudin's book:

Chapter 7 completes the study of limits of functions, started in MTH 3009. The notion of uniform convergence is used to justify the interchange of limits in a variety of situations.
Chapter 8 introduces some of the standard functions of mathematical analysis. Fourier series are used to analyze them.
Chapter 9 deals with functions of several variables. The two basic tools are the Inverse Function Theorem and the Implicit Function Theorem.
Chapter 10 is the most geometric in nature. Differential forms and higher-dimensional integration are studied. The culmination of the chapter is Stokes' theorem.

This course is second in a sequence of three courses, leading towards Lebesgue's theory of integration. It prepares the student for applications of analysis in partial differential equations, probability, geometry, and other areas of mathematics.
